On this page we provide more detail on the forthcoming proposals for 13 new homes on Inglewood Road, prior to the submission of a planning application to the London Borough of Camden.
The site
The location for the proposed new homes is the underutilised site of 14 single-storey lock-up garages found on the eastern end of Inglewood Road. Below you can see an aerial view of the site and a street map.

The site on Inglewood Road was previously identified within Camden’s ‘New Homes for Small Sites Programme’ and is currently noted as a ‘negative contributor’ with ‘potential for beneficial change’ within the West End Green Conservation Area. The project team is well aware of the need for a refined architectural approach that optimizes land use while ensuring the ‘beneficial change’ enhances the character and significance of the local heritage setting.
The context of the local area
We have reassessed the Conservation Area, focusing specifically on residential buildings that make a positive contribution. The examples below illustrate the dominant details and materials that define the area’s significance. These precedents have directly influenced our proposal, establishing a contextually responsive approach to both form and materiality.
We have used these precedents to refine the architectural style of the buildings and their location within the site.
Our proposal
We are proposing a building at the front of the site, facing Inglewood Road, that contains 10 apartments. Two of the apartments will be one-beds, seven will be two-beds and there will be one three bedroom apartment.
Behind the apartment building will be three townhouses, all of which will be three-bedroom homes.
We have prepared a couple of images here.

Layout, plans and sections
Below is a layout of the proposal, some plans, and sections. You can enlarge each image by clicking on them. The layout of the apartment buildings and the three townhouses can be seen in the plan below.
Pallette
We propose to use red brick as the dominant material, reflecting the local vernacular. The roof features dark metal shingles, offering a modern interpretation of traditional slate. Contemporary brick relief patterning adds texture and depth, ensuring the proposal is distinct yet sensitive to its historic setting.
